Stephen King's Novels

Stephen King, a native of Portland, Maine, started writing in 1967 as a young husband, struggling to find work as a teacher. Initially, he sold several stories until landing a job at a private school. He continued writing evenings and weekend until his first big break, selling "Carrie" to Doubleday & Co. "Salem's Lot" was next. He was finally able to write full time. Next was "The Shining", set in Colorado. He moved his family there briefly for his research but most of his time has been in Maine.
He has written over 40 novels-several 7 part series, a 6 part serial as well as numerous short stories.
